Residential Demolition Work
Before any residential home demolition project, we want to inspect the home to make sure that it is free of asbestos, lead, mold, rotted wood, or any other potential hazard. Safety is first and foremost when it comes to our clients, along with our project managers, operators, and contractors.
If lead or asbestos is found in the home we must remove it prior to demolition following the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Once the home is deemed safe for demolition we get all permits necessary prior to demolition according to the local Sacramento County, El Dorado County, Placer County and California State laws. Some counties have different requirements than others. El Dorado County, for example, has a Construction & Demolition (C&D) Debris Recycling Ordinance that relates closley to Waste Management (WM) and CalGreen standards with a goal to increase county waste diversion which ultimatley helps reduce greenhouse gas emission, and promotes sustainability.

In most cases, you will need a permit to destroy or demolish any exsisting structure that was otherwise permitted or currently displayed on public records.
No building or structure regulated by this Code shall be erected, constructed, enlarged, altered, repaired, moved, improved, removed, converted or demolished unless – Placer County
Guidelines such as permissible noise, allowable hours of demolition, disposal of debris, and notifications must be followed. Our team of project managers stay up to date on all city, county, and state regulations to provide our clients with the best service possible.
Disconnecting Services
Once permits have been attained, and prior to demolition, all utilities such as electric, gas, telephone, and sewer should all be disconnected. All could pose a hazard if not disconnected. A disconnection request should be made 2-3 weeks in advance of the services provided by Monster Demolition and a follow up of the completed job.
Keeping the Area Safe From Debris
Utilities are not the only potential hazards that we think about. Flying or shifting debris can also be a hazard. A temporary safety fence can protect your neighbors from any unwanted debris if deemed neccessary which may cause an additional fee. If you are located on a site with acerage such as large home lots in El Dorado Hills, Diamond Springs, Placerville and Amador, you may not need to set up a demolition fence. If you are located in a close quartered neighborhood, often times we will setup a debris fence. Also, it is very important to communicate with your neighbors about the demolition, when it will take place, where it takes place (back yard vs front yard), and what length of time it will take place.
Debris is another concern. We can can provide debris removal. Just discuss this with the contractor during the estimation. Monster Demolition offers debris removal, recycling and salvaging, and total clean-up.
Salvage, Recycling Materials
If you are choosing the deconstruction and you are planning on saving or recycling material, you may want to plan ahead on where you want to store the materials and how to move the materials. Planning ahead will help move the process along. If you have decided to salvage materials of the home but do not have a need for it you may want to consider donating the salvaged materials or we can recycle those material for you, depending on the type of material.
Time – How long does a Demolition Take?
Demolition of the home may only take one day or one week. The process depends on the type of demolition and the size of the home.
